You may remember that I am part of a local group called the Rocket City Bloggers. Being in this group has been am amazing thing for both myself and the blog. Not only have I gotten to meet some thoroughly wonderful people, but I have also improved my blog and opened up other opportunities. If you subscribe to this blog via email, you have a Rocket City Blogger to thank. If you enjoy my posts over at Our Valley Events, know that it’s the connections I made through Rocket City Bloggers which made that possible.
And, perhaps most astonishing of all, Rocket City Bloggers have made me a believer in networking. I know, I know. It sounded silly to me too. I’m an engineer, I like task-oriented problem solving. Networking means making a leap of faith. I like structured, predictable things. Networking is amorphous and can happen any time, any place. I like knowing the outcome before I start. Networking means understanding that what might come out of it will be better than anything you could have dreamed up on your own.
But all that messy, unpredictable, business of talking to people without knowing how that conversation might be useful? That’s where the magic happens. That’s where you find sparks, create ideas, and learn new things. Even better, it’s where you are able to offer help, build a community, and make new friends.
I tell you this because the Rocket City Bloggers is hosting our next networking event on July 10th (one week from today) at the Space and Rocket Center. Thanks to the generosity of both the Space and Rocket Center and the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau there will be food and drinks. Downtown Huntsville Inc is providing wine. Marsha from The Rocket will be our MC and she will have her hands full with the wonderful raffle prizes donated by local businesses. That alone would be enough for an enjoyable evening. But what’s really going to make it. What’s really going to give it that sparkle is you. If you have a blog, want to have a blog, might want to blog…If you have a small or local business and want to reach out to local bloggers, please come join us! We would love to meet you and see what we can spark!
